The university’s signature publication was named best in the country.
Texas Tech University's award-winning magazine Evermore has been recognized with a Bronze Anvil in the magazines category, marking it as the best public relations magazine in the country.
The award judges three consecutive issues of a magazine publication. Evermore's first three issues were submitted to the committee, which honored it as the best in the country across all public relations outlets.
“It is such an honor to see Evermore recognized on this level,” said Glenys Young, the university's director of storytelling and editor of Evermore. “True to the Red Raider spirit, we have been working diligently and purposefully to give our community the very best magazine we're capable of producing. It's gratifying to have that work resonate even beyond our Texas Tech family, and to have it happen so early in Evermore's life is the icing on the cake.”
Evermore was started with the goal of sharing the stories of Texas Tech's community and engaging community members, inspiring them to get involved at the university.
The magazine is a unique story-telling platform that aims to capture the essence of Texas Tech through tales of West Texas grit, Red Raiders who deserve to have the Victory Bells rung for them and members of the Texas Tech community who constantly strive for honor.
“This is a tremendous honor for our team in the Office of Communications & Marketing, who have put together an outstanding magazine showcasing the best of Texas Tech,” said Texas Tech President Lawrence Schovanec. “This award is a testament to the hard work, talent and dedication of those in communications and marketing, who have created a wonderful and innovative insight into what being a Red Raider is all about.”
Presented by the Public Relations Society of America at a ceremony in New York last week (June 8), the Bronze Anvil is a milestone achievement for Evermore in its first year of eligibility in the magazines category. For over 75 years, the Anvils have been considered the icon of the profession and the benchmark of high performance in public relations. Silver Anvil Awards celebrate the best strategic public relations campaigns of the year, as well as outstanding organizational excellence. Bronze Anvil Awards recognize outstanding public relations tactics that contribute to the success of overall programs or campaigns.
Alongside Evermore, Bronze Anvil winners for 2023 include H&R Block, Wendy's, PetSmart, Goodwill Industries and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital among others.
Evermore was shortlisted in the same category in 2022, even though only one issue had been published and it did not meet the three-issue requirement.
The writing, photography and design of Evermore are all in-house productions from the magazine team in the Office of Communications & Marketing, which is made up almost entirely of Texas Tech graduates.
“Evermore winning the Bronze Anvil is an outstanding accomplishment and an affirmation of the progress we've made,” said Vice President of Marketing & Communications Matt Dewey. “I'm incredibly proud of our in-house Evermore team and their work to celebrate and honor the stories of Texas Tech University. Our marketing and communications work has always focused on building emotional connections to the brand, and this recognition from our industry peers is a testament to that focus.”
