The City of Lubbock Solid Waste Department, in partnership with Texas Tech University, will host the first “Move Out Give Back” event May 5-12.
WHAT: The “Move Out Give Back” initiative provides an opportunity for students to donate reusable items from their residence halls or apartments instead of throwing them away after they move out.
WHEN: 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday (May 5) through May 12, closed on Sunday.
WHERE:
- Texas Tech University: Next to the City of Lubbock Recycling site, behind the Physical Plant, 3122 Main St.
- Elgin Avenue and 29th Street: Next to the City of Lubbock Recycling site, by the LP&L Substation, 2901 Elgin Ave.
- Heart of Lubbock: Redeemer Lutheran Church parking lot, 2221 Ave. W.
EVENT: Three temporary drop-off sites will be available for students living both on and off campus to donate reusable items such as nonperishable foods, hard surface furniture and small, working appliances. Students also are encouraged to bring damaged or broken items that are too large for a dumpster so they may be disposed of properly. Attendants will be present to assist in determining if items are appropriate to donate. All items should be clean and free of debris.
