'We are thankful to everyone for their support of Texas Tech University and our goal of becoming the state's next national research university,' said Kent Hance, Texas Tech University System chancellor, in a press release. 'The fact that the fund is oversubscribed for 2010 as of today shows that this is good for all seven emerging research universities and will be extremely beneficial for the state of Texas.'

On Friday, two former Texas Tech University system regents said they were pressured to resign their posts by Perry associates because they are supporting U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison in her Republican primary challenge to Perry next year.
