Austin American Statesman - “In its reports to the Texas Workforce Commission, which oversaw the no-bid contract, Nance’s foundation took credit for helping a couple of companies move to Texas, helping some startups and ‘fostering’ the National Institute of Renewable Energy at Texas Tech University. Officials at all but one of the companies discounted the role that the foundation played. But a Texas Tech official said Nance was “instrumental” in broadening the university’s idea for a renewable energy center to one that would appeal to other Texas research universities.
