Texas Tech University will serve as a designated research collaborator in a first-of-its-kind Systems Engineering Research Center (SERC) funded by the Department of Defense (DoD). The new center focuses on systems engineering challenges facing the department and related defense industries.

A $7.5 million gift announced Jan. 16 from the J. F Maddox Foundation to create the Donovan Maddox Distinguished Engineering Chair, gives Texas Tech University an advantage in its goal of leading the nation in energy solutions. Jim Maddox, the son of Donovan Maddox was there for the announcement.
