Texas Tech University will be involved in solar eclipse watch parties on campus and in the Lubbock community.
WHAT: Solar Eclipse Watch Parties

- 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Museum of Texas Tech University
- 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the YWCA

- YWCA of Lubbock, 6501 University Ave.
EVENT: Texas Tech University is hosting two solar eclipse watch parties at the Museum of Texas Tech University and the YWCA of Lubbock on Saturday (Oct. 14).
Speakers from the Department of Physics & Astronomy will present a public talk at the YWCA of Lubbock, and eclipse glasses and telescopes will be available at the event.
The Museum of Texas Tech also will hold a watch party with eclipse glasses, crafts, free cookies and free planetarium shows available for guests to enjoy. The eclipse will be livestreamed in the Helen DeVitt Jones Auditorium from the Texas Tech Center at Junction, which is in the direct path of the eclipse. A livestream from NASA will also be shown on a smaller screen in the Helen DeVitt Jones Sculpture Court.
