UIL One-Act Play Competitions Will Be Held at Texas Tech

Class 5A and 4A regional qualifiers will compete to advance to the state event.

The Region 1 Class 5A and Class 4A University Interscholastic League One-Act Play competitions will be held Wednesday and Thursday (April 19 and 20) at the Allen Theatre on the campus of Texas Tech University.

Each production is 40 minutes long. The top two finishers advance to the UIL state competition May 4-6 in Austin.

The Class 4A event will begin at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday. The schools competing and their scheduled productions are Decatur, “Of Good Stock”; Canyon West Plains, “Ugly Lies the Bone”; Lubbock Estacado, “Black Snow”; Snyder, “A Company of Wayward Saints”; Andrews, “The Sweet Science of Bruising”; and Randall, “A View from the Bridge.”

The Class 5A competition will begin at 1:45 p.m. Thursday. The schools competing and their scheduled productions are Denton Ryan, “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof”; Abilene Wylie, “The Storm in the Barn”; Lubbock High, “Jane Eyre”; El Paso Bel Air, “The Effects of Gamma Rays on Man-In-The-Moon Marigolds”; Midlothian, “The Diviners”; and Argyle, “Pride and Prejudice.”

Tickets prices are $10 for adults and $5 for students and will be available at the door. Free parking is available in the band lot (R-11) south of the School of Music building.
