Texas Tech to Hold Groundbreaking at Memorial Circle

WHAT:  Military & Veterans Tribute Walk/Wall of Honor Groundbreaking Ceremony

WHEN:  2 p.m. Friday (Nov. 11)

WHERETexas Tech University, Memorial Circle

EVENT:  Texas Tech University will host the official groundbreaking on a tribute walk and Wall of Honor at Memorial Circle. The new installations on the circle will be to honor service members who attended Texas Tech. 

The tribute walk will be installed on the east side exterior of Memorial Circle. The Wall of Honor will be installed on the east side interior, for each of 10 honorees who were killed in action or distinguished themselves on the battlefield. 

Guest speakers for the event will include retired U.S. Air Force Col. Bobby Waddle; Texas Tech University President Lawrence Schovanec; retired U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Walter Huffman; Texas Tech University System Chancellor Tedd L. Mitchell, M.D.; U.S. Air Force Gen. and Chief of Staff C.Q. Brown Jr. and retired U.S. Air Force Col. Lou Ortiz. 

The event is free and open to the media and the public. Parking will be available in lots R13 and R08.
