WHATTexas Tech University's Presidential Lecture & Performance Series will host Davina & The Vagabonds

WHEN:  7 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 10)

WHERE:  The Allen Theatre, inside the Student Union Building (SUB) at 1502 Akron Ave.

EVENT:  A new spin on an old sound, Davina & The Vagabonds brings 100 years of American music along with Davina Sowers' originals, which lend themselves to the American Songbook. The band brings edgy nostalgia to older generations and fresh new music to younger ears. This sweet and spicy quintet is held together by Sowers' keyboard playing, with acoustic bass, drums and a trumpet and trombone section. The group's focused, clean sound and emphasis on acoustic instruments is novel to both the blues and jazz worlds that most would associate with New Orleans.

Davina & The Vagabonds will have a 90-minute set without an intermission, followed by an audience meet and greet and CD signing.

General admission tickets for the public are $20. Texas Tech students are admitted for free with a valid student ID.
