Texas Tech University's continued commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion has led the university to be recognized at a national level for its efforts.
For the 11th straight year, INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine has named Texas Tech a Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) winner, and for the seventh time, Texas Tech was named a Diversity Champion.
Texas Tech is one of just seven schools to be named a 11-time HEED award winner.
“At Texas Tech, we strive to build a culture of belonging and support,” said Texas Tech President Lawrence Schovanec. “This environment ensures all members of our diverse campus community can explore and discover their path to success, and this award recognizes those efforts."
Presented each year by the oldest and largest diversity-focused publication in higher education, these honors recognize U.S. colleges and universities that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Since 2016, top-tier HEED Award recipients also receive recognition as Diversity Champions. These recipients serve as role models of excellence for other institutions by setting the standard for thousands of other campus communities striving for diversity and inclusion. Diversity Champion schools exceed everyday expectations, often eclipsing their own goals.
