“Fearless,” a Texas Tech podcast, is going beyond the research at Texas Tech to share the stories of what motivates the people doing the work.
The latest season of “Fearless,” a production of Texas Tech University's Office of Communications and Marketing, launches Wednesday, (Aug. 24).
Texas Tech is an R1 research institution, the highest level in the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, so its faculty members facilitate some of the top research in the country. In fact, according to a 2022 report, the university has been up 35% in federal awards in the last two years, but those numbers are just part of what's inspired this podcast. Co-producers Allison Hirth and Taylor Peters set out to discover more about what this research is and the motivation behind it.
“I believe that in the DNA of ‘Fearless,' we will always be intently focused on people,” says Peters, the podcast's host. “Being part of this podcast has given me more appreciation for the discoveries that are made on this campus and how they can impact people everywhere.”
“Fearless” focuses this season on how Texas Tech researchers are using their discoveries and inventions to make a lasting impact in our city, state and world.
“We talk about research a lot in the Office of Communications and Marketing,” Hirth said. “We talk about the number of proposals submitted, we talking about the expenditures and the record number expenditures; but we wanted to talk about the people and what inspires them to do this work. And that's what we do in season two.”
