The associate professor steps to compensate for Aliza Wong’s departure to Rome.
Susan Tomlinson has been named acting dean of the Honors College at Texas Tech University. She will begin her term May 15, 2022.
She replaces Interim Dean Aliza Wong, who recently accepted the position of director of the American Academy in Rome.
Tomlinson holds a bachelor's degree in studio art and earned both her master's and doctoral degrees in geology. She is currently an associate professor in the Honors College and a member of the Texas Tech University Teaching Academy.
Tomlinson has won multiple awards at Texas Tech, including the Chancellor's Council Distinguished Teaching Award, the President's Excellence in Teaching Award and the Spencer G. Wells Creativity in Teaching Award. She also sits on the board of directors for the American Society of Botanical Artists.
“I am looking forward to Susan's work in the Honors College,” said Provost and Senior Vice President Ron Hendrick. “Her dedication and service to the students and faculty of the Honors College to date has set an excellent precedent for her taking on this role.”
