Texas Tech to Break Ground on New Academic Sciences Building

The new facility will house teaching and laboratory space for five departments within the College of Arts & Sciences.

Parking Change

WHAT:  Texas Tech University's Office of the President will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the Academic Sciences Building.

WHEN:  3 p.m. Wednesday (Dec. 15)

WHERE:  Don-Kay-Clay Cash Chemistry Foyer, Chemistry Building. Parking is available in Lot R8, Science Quad.

EVENT: The ceremony will commence with opening remarks from Texas Tech President Lawrence Schovanec, followed by remarks from Texas Rep. Dustin Burrows; Noel Sloan, chief financial officer and senior vice president for Texas Tech Administration & Finance; and Billy Breedlove, vice chancellor for Facilities Planning & Construction for the Texas Tech University System.

Designed in the style of the Spanish Renaissance, the three-story, 125,000-square-foot Academic Sciences Building will house teaching and laboratory space for the Departments of GeosciencesChemistry & BiochemistryBiological SciencesPhysics & Astronomy and Psychological Sciences. Construction is expected to continue through December 2023.
