(VIDEO) Pandemic experience prompts a mother to follow in her son’s footsteps, and finish what she started more than 30 years ago.

Mary Savage Dixon came to Texas Tech as a wide-eyed freshman in the fall of 1987, but her dreams were put on hold when her mother revealed she was battling breast cancer. Mary left Lubbock and returned home to care for her mother. 

Then in 2020, when the global pandemic sent our lives online, Mary decided it was the right time to give college another try and enrolled in online classes alongside her son, Bryce.
