The concert at the Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences will showcase multiple ensembles.

Texas Tech University's School of Music, housed within the J.T. & Margaret Talkington College of Visual & Performing Arts, will host “IGNITE!” on Tuesday (Nov. 16) at 7:30 p.m. in the Helen Devitt Jones Theater at the Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences.

“Thanks to our presenting sponsor, United Supermarkets, all proceeds from ticket sales will go toward the School of Music's general scholarship fund,” said Lisa Garner Santa, interim director of the School of Music. “Our alumni are threaded throughout the fabric of Lubbock's arts culture from singer song-writers you may hear on First Fridays or at the Cactus Theater, to the arts educators in our public school programs. When you support scholarships for Texas Tech music students, you support Lubbock.”

The concert will be a fast-paced, transient showcase of various ensembles including choir, orchestra, mariachi, jazz and the Goin' Band from Raiderland. This is one of few chances throughout the year to hear the school's many ensembles in one place.

“Attending ‘IGNITE!' is an opportunity to experience the very best that the School of Music has to offer,” said Eric Allen, chair of music education and “IGNITE!” production coordinator. “The show will feature 31 performances in 90 minutes and is sure to demonstrate the diversity, energy and artistry of Texas Tech.”

Masks are recommended for unvaccinated guests due to COVID-19 safety protocols. Guests may bring a clear bag and/or a small clutch bag to the venue.
