Time magazine posted its "100 Most Influential People of 2020" list today (Sept. 23), and Texas Tech University was represented by two men in the "Titans" category. Former Texas Tech Air Force ROTC member and current Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force Gen. Charles Q. "CQ" Brown Jr., and current Kansas City Chiefs and former Red Raider quarterback Patrick Mahomes were honored with the prestigious title.

Brown is the first Black chief of a U.S. military service. Former Secretary of the U.S. Air Force Heather Wilson wrote about Brown's achievements. She noted that the suppression of ISIS militants in Iraq and Syria was largely accomplished by local forces on the ground, enabled by airpower Brown helped orchestrate. Brown has opened doors throughout his career and made sure they have stayed open for those who follow, Wilson said.

Former New York Yankee Derek Jeter wrote about the electricity Mahomes brings to the football field. Jeter said it's not just that his combination of athleticism, creativity and vision is fun to watch but that Mahomes showcases his love of the game. The commitment he's made to his teammates and coaches make it clear that passion is the true foundation of his success.
