Hospitality students will design and serve a five-course meal, featuring seasonal and local fare, for a true culinary experience that can’t be found anywhere else in Lubbock.
Texas Tech University's hospitality students will open unique pop-up restaurants at Skyviews twice a week for their Spring Dinner Series Lab.
The series begins this week and runs through late April.
Pop-up restaurants are the hottest trend in creative dining today, as startup restaurateurs and culinarians around the country seek creative venues to introduce and showcase their talents.
Beginning Jan. 29-30 and running every Wednesday and Thursday throughout the spring semester, lab students will team up to create their own restaurant concept with a unique name, décor, cuisine and beverage menu.
They'll serve a five-course dinner menu that is completely their design, featuring seasonal and local fare. Students from all different backgrounds will come together to create a true culinary experience that can't be found anywhere else in Lubbock.
The first three themes in the series are:
Jan. 29-30: A Night on the Cape
Feb. 5-6: Red Caboose Winery Winemaker's Wine Dinner
Feb. 12-13: Valentine's Day Dinners
Additional menus will be released at a later date on the Skyviews website.
With original promotions and a new beverage menu, Skyviews will be this year's premier restaurant.
A new pop-up restaurant opens with a different team of entrepreneurs each week. Dinners begin at 5:45 p.m. with reservations taken every 15 minutes until 7:30 p.m.
The pop-up restaurant series provides a fixed-price menu with a choice of entrée at $35 per person. Skyviews features a wine list, wines by the glass, specialty cocktails and full bar.
