Robert Kaplowitz is a Tony Award-winning sound designer, instructor and entrepreneur.
The Texas Tech University Innovation Hub at Research Park will host the final installment in its 2019 Performance Innovation Speaker Series next week.
The event will feature Robert Kaplowitz, a world-renowned composer, sound designer and instructor at Princeton University. Among other recognitions and nominations, he has been honored with a Tony Award for Best Sound Design of a Musical for "Fela!" in 2009-10 and an Obie Award (the Off-Broadway Theater Awards) for Sustained Excellence in Sound Design during the 2006-07 season. His professional credits include more than 300 productions.
Kaplowitz has integrated a new technology into the world of theater and sound design by creating StageCaller, an app that produces sounds and changes the way sound design is produced during live performances. The public is invited to hear Kaplowitz share the highs and lows of his journey as he tries to disrupt the sound design industry.
The event is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 19) at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Academic Events Center, 3601 Fourth St. It is free and open to the public, but because lunch is included, registration is required. To register, click here.
