Texas Tech Hosts Fourth Annual Veterans Day Ceremony

The ceremony will honor a Gold Star Family and all individuals, past and present, who have served in the United States armed forces.

WHAT: Texas Tech University's Army ROTC program and Military & Veterans Programs will host the fourth annual Veterans Day ceremony.

WHEN: 4-5 p.m. today (Nov. 11)

WHERE: Memorial Circle, Texas Tech University

EVENT: The ceremony will open with remarks by Army ROTC Cadet Battalion Cmdr. Kristopher MacDowell, followed by the honoring of the Gold Star Family of Pfc. Corey Lee Winkle, of Lubbock, who was killed in action on Feb. 25, 1991, while serving in Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War.

 Lt. Col. Adrian Jackson, the primary military instructor for Texas Tech Army ROTC, also will deliver remarks, followed by guest speaker Nathan Hayes, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps and is now an instructor and doctoral candidate in the Jerry S. Rawls College of Business.

 The ceremony will close with a retreat by the Army and Air Force Color Guards, commanded by Cadet Ivonne Davila of the Army ROTC program.

 The event is free and open to the public.
