Technology Startups and Entrepreneurs Get Boost in Lubbock

The Innovation Hub at Research Park celebrates its 2018-19 Texas Tech Accelerator participants and welcomes the 2019-20 cohort.

WHAT: The Texas Tech University Innovation Hub at Research Park will host a graduation ceremony for the 2018-19 cohort of five TTU Accelerator program companies and a ribbon cutting for the program's 2019-20 cohort of seven companies. In its mission to support entrepreneurs and scientists as they develop products that make a difference, Texas Tech invites media and the public to learn about these inventions and launching these startups in West Texas.

WHEN: Wednesday (June 12)
• 3 p.m., Graduation presentations: The 2018-19 cohort of startup entrepreneurs will share lessons learned from their participation in the Texas Tech Accelerator program and offer advice to entrepreneurs and the incoming cohort of companies.
• 4 p.m., Ribbon cutting and elevator pitches: Mayor Dan Pope and Texas Tech leaders will join the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce in celebrating the 2019-20 cohort of companies. Founders of the incoming companies will introduce their startups and innovations.

WHERE: Innovation Hub at Research Park, 3911 Fourth St.

About the Texas Tech Accelerator

The Texas Tech Accelerator program is designed to help faculty, students and other entrepreneurs in the region launch startup companies or discover licensing opportunities based on inventions and university technology. Participating in the Texas Tech Accelerator is based on an application process that begins the previous spring. Participating companies have access to funding support, $25,000 grants, co-working space and mentors during the yearlong process.
