Golden Key Chapter Awarded Organization's Highest Honor

Golden Key

Of the more than 400 chapters worldwide, Texas Tech was one of just 33 chapters to receive the award, and the only chapter among those in the Big 12 Conference to receive the honor and a gold-standing ranking. Read more>>


Personal Financial Planning Team Wins Financial Planning Challenge

In February 1999, a meeting between Texas Tech University's Personal Financial Planning faculty and American Express executives resulted in the creation of a financial planning competition – the American Express Planning Invitational. On the strength of four individual top 10 finishes, the Texas Tech University Meat Judging Team in the Department of Animal & Food Sciences earned its first competition victory of the spring at the American Meat Science Association Southwestern Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contest recently in Fort Worth. Ariana Bigham received the Outstanding Master's Thesis Award for “The Effect of Gender and Source Credibility on Message Persuasiveness,” and Laura Gorham Fischer won the Outstanding Dissertation Award for “Examining the Role of Motivational Salience, Issue Involvement and Pre-existing Attitudes on Selective Attention and Attitude Strength to Advertisement.” Read more>>
