Texas Tech Hosts 14th Annual Burkhart Walk for Autism Awareness

This event helps support National Autism Awareness Month

WHAT: 14th Annual Burkhart Walk for Autism Awareness

WHEN: Walk: 2-4 p.m. Sunday (April 28); Media availability: 2:30-3:15 p.m.

WHERE: John Walker Soccer Complex, 3901 10th St.

EVENT: The Texas Tech University Burkhart Center for Autism Education & Research will host the 14th Annual Burkhart Walk for Autism Awareness. Students, faculty, staff and the Lubbock community are invited to show their support for autism awareness.

The event is free and open to the public. Free T-shirts will be distributed while supplies last. Local service providers and community agencies will share information about autism resources in Lubbock. No food or pets are allowed inside the soccer complex.

In addition to the walk, there will be inflatables, games and other activities for children. There also will be appearances from the Masked Rider, Raider Red and characters from Disney films.

At the walk, there will be a media availability from 2:30 – 3:15 p.m., giving the chance for local media sources to speak with autism experts in the Burkhart Center.
