Government data could be used to prevent youth suicide, academic says

stuff.co.nz- Crime, education, housing and other data from Government agencies could be used to help prevent youth suicide, according to a visiting US academic.

Texas Tech University professor Todd Little spoke to Ministry of Health officials this week about how different data sets stored in a huge Statistics New Zealand database called the Integrated Data Infrastructure (IDI) could be used to identify combinations of factors or "pathways" that put young people at risk of suicide.
