Fall Dance Festival

Texas Tech University's School of Theatre & Dance, housed within the J.T. & Margaret Talkington College of Visual & Performing Arts, will present “Fall Dance Festival,” its first dance performance of the year, Nov. 14-17  in and around the Creative Movement Studio, located on the southwest corner of Akron Avenue and Glenna Goodacre Boulevard. Each performance will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The production will feature student choreography. Charlotte Boye-Christensen, associate professor and head of the dance program in the School of Theatre & Dance, said she encouraged the students to locate the appropriate space in and around the Creative Movement Studio that ignites an idea or inspires a concept.

“Site-specific work is tricky-space becomes such a vital partner and collaborator in the process of creating the work and should therefore be chosen with great care and attention to detail,” Boye-Christensen said. “At the end of ‘Fall Dance Festival,' audiences, students and faculty alike will look at the building and its surroundings differently and be inspired by the potential of the Creative Movement Studio as a broad canvas for creative research.”

Tickets are $15 for individuals and $5 for students with a valid student ID. A limited number of free student rush tickets are available for Texas Tech students.  More information is available at (806) 742-3603 or on the School of Theatre & Dance website.
