WHAT: The Texas Tech University Biological Threat Research Laboratory (BTRL) in the Department of Environmental Toxicology will host a three-day joint exercise next week to practice and evaluate its response plans and capabilities for a potential hazardous materials incident.
WHEN: 8 a.m. to noon Monday (Nov. 5)-Wednesday (Nov. 7)
WHERE: The Department of Environmental Toxicology, Reese Technology Center Building 555, 1207 Gilbert Drive, will be the primary location for the event, but elements of the exercise also will occur at local emergency medical facilities.
EVENT: Texas Tech's BTRL team, Lubbock Fire Rescue and its Hazardous Materials Response Team, Lubbock Police Department, Texas Tech Police Department, City of Lubbock Health Department, Texas Department of State Health Services – Region 1, United States Postal Inspection Service, Covenant Medical Center, Star ER and University Medical Center will collaborate during the exercise.
Media are invited to attend any or all of the event. From 9-11 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 6) is expected to be the most visually appealing time.
