School of Music Hosts Symphonic Band and Concert Band Performance

WHAT: Texas Tech University School of Music will host a performance of the Symphonic Band and Concert Band.

WHEN: 7:30 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 23)

WHERE: Hemmle Recital Hall, 2624 W 18th St.

EVENT: The Texas Tech School of Music, housed within the J.T. & Margaret Talkington College of Visual & Performing Arts, will host the first band concert of the year, featuring performances by the Symphonic Band and Concert Band.

Directed by Ryan Smith, the Concert Band will perform selections from composers including Frank Ticheli and William Grant Still. After a brief intermission, the Symphonic Band, directed by Eric Allen, associate professor of music and assistant director of bands in the School of Music, will perform selections from composers including Christopher M. Nelson and Alfred Reed.

The concert is free and open to the public.
