Texas Tech Presents 'Little Women: The Broadway Musical'

Little Women

The musical brings the classic novel to life on stage.

Texas Tech University's School of Theatre & Dance, housed within the J.T. & Margaret Talkington College of Visual & Performing Arts, will present “Little Women: The Broadway Musical”April 12-15 and 19-22 in the Charles E. Maedgen, Jr. Mainstage Theatre, located at 2812 18th St. between Boston and Flint avenues. Curtain times for the 2017-2018 Mainstage Season are 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

“Little Women: The Broadway Musical” is based on the novel by Louisa May Alcott with music by Jason Howland, lyrics by Mindi Dickstein and book by Allan Knee. It brings the timeless story of the adventures of sisters Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy March growing up in Civil War America to life on stage. The musical is filled with personal discovery, heartache, hope and everlasting love.

Director Kristen Rogers feels the show will appeal to those who already love the classic novel as well as those who may never have read it before.

“This story touches on so many themes,” Rogers said. “Somehow it speaks both to our collective sense of nostalgia and to the contemporary challenges and joys we all continue to face.”

Tickets for “Little Women”are $18 for individuals and $5 for students with a valid student ID. A limited number of free student rush tickets are available for Texas Tech students. More information is available online or at (806) 742-3603.
