WHAT: Texas Tech University presents The SteelDrivers as part of the 2017-18 Presidential Lecture & Performance Series

WHEN: 7 p.m. Friday (Nov. 17)

WHERE: Texas Tech University Allen Theatre, Student Union Building

EVENT: The SteelDrivers, a Grammy Award-winning group, will perform its signature sound that combines bluegrass with country and soul influences to create a more contemporary sound.

The band released "The Muscle Shoals Recordings," its fourth release on Rounder Records, in 2015. The album reached No. 1 on the Billboard Bluegrass Chart and received a 2016 Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album.

They have been featured on many radio and TV shows, including the Conan O' Brian show and NPR's "Mountain Stage." The band also has been featured in the 2009 film "Get Low," starring Bill Murray and Robert Duvall, and the band's music has been covered by other artists, including Adele.
