Texas Tech researchers investigating mosquito-borne diseases

CBS 4 News - The Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in El Paso is launching a two-year investigation into West Nile and Zika.

Thousands of Texans each year are infected with West Nile virus. Meanwhile, more than 300 cases of Zika have been reported in Texas since 2015.

In other mosquito-borne diseases like Dengue fever, the symptoms get worse in patients each time they are infected with the disease.

Researchers - Anjali Joshi and Himanshu Garg with TTUHSC - are looking to see if there is a similar relationship between West Nile and Zika.
