Concho Valley - The fourth annual West Texas Hunger Summit will take place on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Education Service Center, located at 612 S. Irene St. (at the corner of Irene and Rio Concho Dr.) One of the key principles determined by the Aspen Institute in their "Advancing Health Through Food Security" study points out that food insecurity should be recognized as a national health issue. It is a driver of poor health, which in turn drives healthcare costs. Many of these costs could be substantially reduced through access to adequate and appropriate healthy foods.
