KVTN - College is an exciting time for young adults; a time to gain independence, to grow academically and a time for exploration. However, for some students who are prone to, or who may already have a substance abuse disorder, the college experience can be trying.
At the time, the University of Nevada did not have a collegiate recovery program, but Texas Tech did. Daniel transferred schools, got involved in the collegiate recovery program and thrived. "First semester I made the Dean's List." Fast forward more than a dozen years and Daniel is now the Director of Recovery Programs and National Outreach with Transforming Youth Recovery. The locally-based program was started by Stacie Mathewson who lost her son to addiction.
