Vietnam Veteran and Former POW to Speak at Texas Tech

Captain Jerry Coffee is a Navy veteran who spent year POW shot down over North Vietnam is now a well known speaker.

The Vietnam Center and Archive at Texas Tech University is proud to present Captain Gerald Coffee (US Navy, retired). Coffee is a 28-year veteran of the US Navy, whose service as a pilot included flying low-level reconnaissance missions during the Cuban Missile Crisis, for which he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. During the Vietnam War, Coffee was shot down over North Vietnam in 1966 and spent seven years as a prisoner of war before returning to the U.S. in 1973. He is the recipient of the Silver Star, two Bronze Stars, two Purple Hearts and two Legion of Merit awards. He is also the author of the best-selling book, Beyond Survival, and has served as a commentator on numerous political and military issues in major media outlets.
