News Conference Announcing Purple Heart University Designation

WHAT:           Texas Tech University will hold a news conference announcing its recent designation as a Purple Heart University by the Military Order of the Purple Heart.

WHEN:           1 p.m. Friday (April 11)

WHERE:         Entrance of the Stars and Stripes Military, Veteran and Family Lounge, west basement of the Student Union Building

EVENT:          Commander John Murdock of the Military Order of the Purple Heart South Plains of Texas Chapter 0900 will award Texas Tech the honor of the Purple Heart University designation along with individual awards to Juan Muñoz, senior vice president and vice provost, Texas Tech University; Ryan Van Dusen, director, Military and Veterans Programs, Texas Tech University; Steve Maxner, director, Vietnam Center and Archive, Texas Tech University; Elvis Moya, director of Promotions and Fan Engagement, Texas Tech Intercollegiate Athletics; and Steve Uryasz, associate athletics director for student services, Texas Tech Intercollegiate Athletics.

Texas Tech administrators including President M. Duane Nellis will make remarks. Members of local military and veteran organizations will be on hand as well.
