Child killer pleads guilty

 About one week before jury selection was set to begin in the capital murder case of Ralph Martinez Jr., a plea deal was struck to give the now admitted child killer life in prison without parole.

Patrick Metze, a Texas Tech law professor and director of the Criminal Defense Clinic and Capital Punishment Clinic at the Texas Tech School of Law, said such plea deals happen often.
