Law School Earns Top 20 Best Value Ranking

Texas Tech University School of Law has again earned a Top 20 ranking by The National Jurist magazine in its Best Value Law Schools issue. Listed at No. 18, up from No. 20 in 2011, Texas Tech Law is once again the only Texas law school ranked this year. Texas Tech Law has been ranked in the Top 20 in all five of the magazine’s Best Value issues.

Best Value schools are determined based on tuition, bar passage, average student indebtedness, and graduates’ employment after nine months, all categories in which Texas Tech Law excels.

Dean Darby Dickerson noted that the school’s relatively low tuition, strong record of bar passage and commitment to work with students and alumni to find quality jobs are factors that draw students to the school.

“We were in a small group of law schools this year that experienced an increase in admissions applications,” Dickerson said. “I attribute this increase in large measure to the fact that we provide students with a high-quality, yet affordable, education that prepares them to enter a wide variety of legal and business positions.”

Another hallmark of a Texas Tech Law education is the personalized experience that students receive both inside and outside the classroom.

“We work closely with students to identify career paths by utilizing a one-on-one approach to develop job search skills and to prepare students for the modern-day realities of a legal career,” said Julie Doss, assistant dean for external relations.
