An amendment to restore representation to West Texas passed in the early morning hours Thursday in the state House.

Filed by Rep. John Smithee, R-Amarillo, the amendment unsplits the districts of Rep. Jim Landtroop, R-Plainview, and Rep. Charles Perry, R-Lubbock. It also restores Rep. Tom Craddick's district to its present state and undoes a newly proposed district that would have stretched through West Texas toward the metroplex, according to maps filed with the Legislative Redistricting Board online.
