Android users, let your phones rejoice.
Texas Tech directory information, course listings, maps and news are now available on the Android Market.
TTU Mobile, the university's official smartphone application, added to its offerings for iPhone, Blackberry and iPad users with the launch of a version for devices running Android OS.
"I'm most excited that this version of TTU Mobile offers widgets and application shortcuts that allow users to access the information they need faster than ever," said Scott MacWatters, Android specialist for TTU Mobile.
The widget allows users to access the app without opening it, while shortcuts generate icons on a phone's home screen, allowing users to directly access certain functions.
More than 50,000 Apple and Blackberry clients use TTU Mobile, launched in February 2010. Future updates for the service include a webOS version for Palm devices as well as new features for iPhones and iPads.
