Texas Tech Wind and Engineering Speaker Series Hosts Former Chief Economist

Texas Tech University’s Wind Science and Engineering Research Center (WISE) will host Jamie Brown Kruse, director of the Center for Natural Hazards Research at East Carolina University, for the presentation “Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences at NOAA.”

EVENT:          Texas Tech University’s Wind Science and Engineering Research Center (WISE) will host Jamie Brown Kruse, director of the Center for Natural Hazards Research at East Carolina University, for the presentation “Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences at NOAA.”

The presentation will examine the current state of integration between the physical sciences and the social sciences at the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration, where she served as chief economist in 2010. She also will speak on identifying the future challenges that will require a fully integrated approach.

Kruse has published more than 50 referred journal articles in addition to proceedings, abstracts and reports. She has held faculty positions at the University of Colorado, Texas Tech University and a visiting program at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. She graduated with a bachelor’s with a distinction in agriculture from the University of Nebraska and a master’s in agricultural economics from Colorado State University.
