New bill would require licensing of genetic counselors

Chance graduated with a bachelor’s degree in cell and molecular biology from Texas Tech University and a master’s degree in genetic counseling from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in Houston. She is the only genetic counselor in prenatal care available in West Texas. Chance said there are a few counselors in the Lubbock area and many more in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
