The Restaurant, Hotel, and Institutional Management program (RHIM) has partnered with University Parking Services to provide drop off locations for the Tech Can Share Food Drive.
The seven campus entry stations will have a total of 96 RHIM students accepting food donations from 7:30-10:30 a.m. on Nov. 18-19. Graduate students are also assisting.
The food donations benefit the South Plains Food Bank. All brand name and generic canned goods are accepted and appreciated; canned fruits and vegetables are especially needed this year. The food bank also needs include non-can staple items such as pasta, rice, dried beans, macaroni and cheese, and peanut butter.
In addition to University Parking Services, the RHIM Program has partnered with the Texas Tech Student Union & Activities, Tech Activities Board, Texas Tech Grounds Maintenance, and the South Plains Food Bank.
John Fabing, Hospitality Administration Doctoral Student, developed this initiative as a part of a class service project this semester.
The goal is to continue this partnership and provide easy drop-off locations to the Texas Tech community for many years to come.
