Texas Tech Student Wins Honorable Mention in HKS Design Research Collaborative

Students from Texas Tech University worked with design, construction and engineering industry leaders to explore novel ideas and concepts in building design.

Research findings were presented at a Design Research Collaborative awards function, held Oct. 12, at HKS’s headquarters in Dallas.

Texas Tech graduate student Esmeraldo Dazo Conanan VII received honorable mention for his submission, “Emergency Department Expansions and Campus Improvement.”

“HealthCare Facilities (HCaF) Design program in the College of Architecture is less than a year old. From this point of view, recognition of student-work by external agencies implies a greater significance,” said Saif Haq, director of HealthCare Facilities (HCaF) Design. “Congratulations to Esmeraldo.”

Students from Texas A&M University finished in first and third place. A work group from the University of Texas at Arlington was awarded second place. Other entities included this program are Knoll, Maregatti Interiors, Thornton Tomasetti, Henderson Engineers, Newman Jackson Beiberstein, CCRD Partners, The Center for Advanced Design Research & Evaluation and HKS.

The Design Research Collaborative Program is a work group within HKS’s Center for Advanced Design Research and Evaluation (CADRE) <http://www.cadreresearch.org/index.aspx> , a non-profit, 501(c)(3) status agency conducting architectural research and education.
