October 22, 2010
By: Leslie Cranford
The Texas Tech University Residence Halls Association (RHA) will host the annual
Halloween celebration, Safe Treat, from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 28. Texas Tech invites the
Lubbock community to trick-or-treat in a safe and fun environment.
Those wishing to participate in Safe Treat can begin trick-or-treating in any of Texas
Tech’s residence halls at 6 p.m. Families will be allowed to park in any of the “Z”
residence hall parking lots from 6 to 8 p.m. Free bus transportation will be provided
between the residence halls on campus.
The annual pre-Halloween tradition is sponsored by the RHA and Complex Councils. Each
residence hall will have games, activities and the option for children and their family
to go door to door to trick-or-treat and receive free candy. The annual “Safe Treat”
brings together Texas Tech students and local residents during the festivities in
the residence halls.
This year Texas Tech’s men’s basketball team also will be involved in Safe Treat.
Players will be handing out candy and signing posters in the Murray residence hall
lobby from 7 to 8 p.m.
The Residence Halls Association serves as the voice for those students who live within
the residence halls on campus. RHA provides many programs and activities to enhance
the living environment in the residence halls and to encourage the exchange of ideas.
