Texas Tech Hires New Member to Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Unit

Texas Tech University announces the hiring of Timothy Grabowski, a research scientist at the University of Iceland Institute of Biology, to the Texas Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Unit (TCFWRU).

TCFWRU is a partnership between Texas Tech, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, U.S. Geological Survey, Wildlife Management Institute and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

The unit produces research and educational activities related to natural resource management and conservation. Specific fields of interest include fisheries and wildlife management, aquatic and wildlife ecology, community ecology, ecophysiology, ecotoxicology, reproductive biology and fish culture.

Grabowski will serve as assistant unit leader of fisheries and he will fill a joint role as assistant professor in the Texas Tech Department of Natural Resources Management.

“Filling this position has already had a positive impact on our efforts to establish collaborative relationships with partner agencies as we have begun working with Dr. Grabowski to develop research proposals in areas of interest for fisheries management,” said Reynaldo Patiño, director of TCFWRU.

Grabowski received bachelor’s degrees in marine biology and marine fisheries and a master’s degree in wildlife and fisheries sciences from Texas A&M University. He earned a doctorate in zoology from Clemson University.

He has worked as a postdoctoral research associate at the Georgia Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit, a lecturer at the University of Georgia and a postdoctoral research scientist and lecturer at the University of Iceland.
