Texas Tech plans to take state funding cuts on the chin during the next year without letting Austin’s money woes hamper the university system’s overall fiscal growth.

A financial oversight committee of Tech’s Board of Regents on Thursday approved a 2011 budget that will expand the system’s $1.4 billion fiscal empire by about $44 million, up about 3 percent from 2010.
