Raider Power Fridays officially kicks off Sept. 3 with College Colors Day, a national movement in conjunction with the kickoff of the college football season.

Texas Tech President Guy Bailey has proclaimed each Friday during the upcoming football season as Raider Power Fridays in an effort to promote university-wide pride and spirit.

Bailey encourages all faculty, staff, alumni, students and fans to wear apparel bearing the colors and/or insignias of Texas Tech each Friday.

“Texas Tech is an institution that boasts strong academic and athletic traditions, and I can’t think of a better way to rally our university pride and spirit,” Bailey said. “We are continuing to make strides nationally in the classroom and on our fields of play, while at the same time embarking on new courses to help grow our university. It’s a great time to be a Red Raider.”

The Lubbock community also is invited to participate in Raider Power Fridays, and local business owners are encouraged to have employees participate in the spirit day by hosting Red Raider themed office days.
