Texas Tech University and a related renewable energy institute will receive $8.4 million from the Texas Emerging Technology Fund, Gov. Rick Perry announced on Tuesday.
The university in Lubbock will receive $6.4 million, and the National Institute for Renewable Energy will receive $2 million from the fund.
The groups aim to use the money to resolve scientific and technology issues for the wind power industry.
