Texas Tech fiesta helps kids prepare for classroom

Pity the fool who doesn’t go to school?

Don’t.

Leave that to Mr. T.

Instead, point them in the direction of Saturday’s Back to School Fiesta at Texas Tech, a decade-old annual event that helps children and their families prepare for a return to the classroom next month. From college-bound advice to school supplies to health clinics, the whole shebang will be free and completely open to the public beginning at 10 a.m. at the United Spirit Arena on Tech’s campus.

“The whole point is to encourage the pursuit of education and family wellness,” said Michelle Bair, assistant director of Tech’s office of community engagement, the office hosting the event.
