New Study Suggests A Little Soap And Water Will Prolong Their Life, And Lessen Chances Of Food Borne Illness

You're doing your part for the environment. You buy organic, local foods that you carry home in a reusable tote. Forgoing disposable plastic bags, you not only feel good about your efforts, these stylish new bags help you look good, too.


But while these reusable bags may be green, experts warn they may not always be clean.


"Take care of these bags, and just remember: treat them like any other utensil you would use to touch your food and then use a little bit of common sense in keeping those clean and it will go along way in protecting the consumer," said Mindy Brashears, director of the International Center for Food Industry Excellence at Texas Tech University.
