Tech cuts ribbon on Alumni Center expansion

The Texas Tech University Alumni Association and supporters of Tech gathered to celebrate in a ribbon cutting ceremony for the expansion of the Merket Alumni Center on Saturday.

First built in 1995 as an addition to the original President’s Home, the Merket Alumni Center soon grew popular, hosting more than 800 events annually.

In February 2008, the Isom family and the Ben Ralston family gave a lead gift to expand the Merket Alumni Center. The gift was the beginning of a two-and-a-half-year fundraising and construction project that would double the meeting space in the center.
