Monterey mock trial team reaps more than honors

Hampton surprised the team by arranging a competition with Texas Tech's mock trial team later this year. He is grateful to Tech for its willingness to help his team and said the jaws of the Monterey students dropped open when he told them they would be squaring off against one of the top law school mock trial teams in the nation.
Not many members of Monterey High School's mock trial team are on the debate team, and very few of them are planning to go into the legal profession, said BillyDon Hampton, the team's coach.
